New Body
There’s always something new
In a new body.
There’s always something new.
To discover.

Final stop
That childish me
Who dreamt of tears,
Of songs,
Of fears,
where has it gone?
Has it just jumped
Into the stream?
Has it let go
Of it’s own dream?
That little me
Who cried alone
Who lost
And won
Where has it gone?

Pagan
Here I wait
In my altar
Look at your sacrifices
Your faces.
Beat the drum
Blow the pipes
Into a rythmic change
Of ages.
I’ll take a man.
Yes I’ll take it
If you bring it.
But what I want
I need I desire
Is a young girl.
Ripe, tasty,
Filled with red blood
And smelling of passion.
Bring her in
Turn her to me
Give her to the God.
Trust I’ll take her,
Ifigenia,
Before I depart.

Why does the Fox chase the Rabbit?
Master of Lies,
King of Untruth,
the Fox told
the Rabbit
the following ruse:
“If you want to run,
if you want to hide,
you’d better run fast,
you’d better hide high.
For I’ll follow close,
and then I’ll catch you;
there’s nothing to stop me
since that’s what I do”.
So the Rabbit started,
started running fast.
As fast as the wind,
as fast as the night.
He didn’t get far.
The Fox soon
caught up
and, with teeth smiling,
“You see? I was right”
he said before biting.

Ode to the measure system
Metrics know nothing
of themselves.
Measure this
or that.
A mile in love.
A gallon in jail.
A pound aborted
last night
somewhere.
People measure,
measure everything.
Miles inches feet;
trust you me
whenever we are one bit short
something else will pop up.

About me
My name is Lisandro Berenguer. I was born (and currently live in) Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'm an actor/writer/director.
I don't know why poetry comes to me in English. It just does.
After a long time not publishing this blog, it's back, and I plan to keep it for a long time.
Please feel free to comment on the poems. And enjoy.
